SJAA Beginner's Astronomy Program

As a service to the community SJAA offers FREE classes on astronomy intended for beginners.  These programs assume no prior knowledge.  Topics are selected to best answer the questions of those new in the hobby or those that do not have a technical background.

This program is distinct from the General Meeting Program which presents lectures on the current state of the art in astronomy.  Those lectures generally assume the listeners are familiar with the physics and concepts involved.

Check the SJAA Schedule for the current list of topics

Practice Locating Objects

The Starhopping 101 and Advanced Chart Reading lessons provide you the techniques of how to use charts.  Now it is time to practice.  Here is a picture of the Sagitarius area from the Advanced Class. {Click for a full size copy}.

Now use the chart of the area to locate the objects

If you mark your locations on the above picture and send them to me I will let you know how you did (SJAA Members Only)
