The talk has two sections. The first section will be to introduce the listener to the basics weather. I will first provide an overview of general weather concepts. Next I will talk about what drives the local weather during the year and why there are just 3 seasons. Lastly I will introduce some additional forecasting tools. This will give you some tools to tell if the sky is going to be clear.
Once we know that cloud cover will not be a problem, then what will be the quality of the sky? The second section of the talk will focus on two of the most important properties: Transparency and Seeing. These will be defined with some examples.
Lastly we will sum up with some Rules of Thumb to suggest the best nights for different kinds of observing objects.
