Fort Ord Profiler


Notes:

The Fort Ord profiler uses microwaves to measure the temperature above the site. These are displayed as colors vertically in the diagram. The horizontal scale shows how the pattern varies with time.

Normally you would expect temperature to decrease with altitude. Since we are subject to inversions the temperature will decrease and then get sharply higher. This is the bottom of the inversion. Fog will form under this.

Thus the profiler will tell you whether the peaks will be in or out of the clouds.
