SCTs are notorious for having a problem called tube currents. As the telescope cools air currents are trapped within the closed tube. This persists until the outside air temp has stabilized and all parts of the scope have caught up.

For those that view in the city the city is a heat island. At night it radiates the daytime heat into the sky. It also causes convection currents from hot roofs,etc.

The last was controversial for my expert reviewers. There are many sources that claim that a parking lot is also a source of turbulence. Some astronomers agree with this point and some don’t.
