Gary, I'll need a check for $175 made out to Michael D to cover his expenses. Last month, we got a donation of a Meade ETX-90. JVN has been playing with it and noted that it did not come with the Autostar computer. I just purchased a 495 Autostar from Ebay for $50.00. I may need to update the software so that it becomes a 475 Autostar, but it is fairly easy to do so according to the Mighty ETX website. (Actually, we might want to look into updating the C11 with one of these controllers. They are real inexpensive and very powerful. Maybe when I retire in another 40 years.) Sooo, Gary, please make a check out for me for $50.00. Thanks! Since Mike is the one to implement it, perhaps we should let him be the one to make the announcement... especially after he has had a chance to think about exactly how he wants to go about it. At the meeting, we talked about how there have been times when loaner scopes were returned in poor condition (water damage, tube full of leaves, etc.) or there were difficulties even getting them returned. There are some people who just don't seem to care about stuff that doesn't belong to them. The idea was to provide an incentive. The consensus was that the loaner-scope manager should be allowed some flexability and to implement this policy in a way that would be easy. It's a significant job already, we didn't want to add to it. However, we felt something needed to be done to reduce the instances of scope mistreatment. If someone can come up with a better idea, that would be fine with me.
