It's hard to use something like this as a member recruitment aid. Somehow you'd have to publicize their availability. The newsletter would be relatively ineffective, since the target audience does not get the newsletter... yet. As far as attracting members to meetings, it might help, but I doubt it would be significant, at least not more than once. I think having good speakers or programs is more effective for a good turn-out. We've had some great speakers too! So, I'm not sure what else we can do, within reason. It's possible Saturday night is part of it. Everyone should be able to make it then, but we are also competing with other things--that's THE night out for many people. The note attached was very terse, just: "Astro League dues haven't been pd since 1999--quote invalid--shouldn't have been issued--doesn't qualify." I'm not sure if that means our dues to the Astro League or some payment from the Astro League to them, or what exactly. In any case, it looks like we're still not insured after all. :( Gary From pkohlmil at best.com Thu Jul 15 00:11:27 2004 From: pkohlmil at best.com (Paul Kohlmiller) Date: Sat Sep 30 03:57:24 2006 Subject: [SJAABoard] August Ephemeris Proofread Message-ID: <006301c46a3a$f2389b60$0200a8c0@eclipsys.lan> Dear Ephemerants, the August issue of the Ephemeris is available at http://ephemeris.sjaa.net/0408/EphAug04.pdf The color pictures will be replaced with black and white photos before going to the printer. Rob mentioned that they may be in the wrong by sending it back. No mention was made about us being a member of the Astronomy League until the returned check. The application and their quote both read as a stand-alone deal. If they back down, that would save us $600.
