SJAA Board Meeting 9/5/09

Meeting called to order 6:35 p.m.

Treasurer’s report is in the mail and approved.
Slide and equipment tonight, speakers TBD from Dave S.

Constellation class Oct 9 led by Rod N.
Rich N will be on, on 9/11, and Rod will do beginning astro class.
Lee will do October 23rd Houge.
Nov 6 Mark will be on at Houge.  Rod temp on beginning astro class.

August minutes submitted to late for approval at Sept. meeting, defer to Oct.

PRN – contract is either done as of Friday, or will be this coming week.

Check with city for room Nov 29  11 a.m. – 5 p.m. for fall swap.

Netbook for SJAA for meetings.   SJAA will purchase computer for its programs, meeting the minimum
functional requirement, not to exceed $700.  Rod N will advise what computers are available, and
board will vote by e-mail within two weeks of this meeting.  Passed unanimously.

Wi-Fi is not being considered.

2010 calendar is to be reviewed for October board meeting.  Thanks to JVN for doing the calendar.

. Presented idea and TV program production was discussed.  No decision.  Rod asking about
demographics and viewership.  Mark will get info.

LCROSS impact star party.  4:30 a.m. is target impact time.  Need more discussion via board list.

Blanket insurance policy for school star parties, Houge and elsewhere.  All for public outreach. 
Contact insurance company and discuss options.
